WHAT VACCINATIONS DO CATS NEED IN THE UK?

Cats in the UK require a core set of vaccinations to protect against serious and potentially fatal diseases. These are typically given as a combined injection in kittenhood, with annual boosters required to maintain immunity. Core cat vaccines in the UK include: Cat flu (Feline Herpesvirus + Calicivirus) — highly contagious upper respiratory infection causing sneezing, eye discharge and mouth ulcers. Feline Infectious Enteritis (Panleukopaenia) — a serious and often fatal viral disease causing severe vomiting and diarrhoea. Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) — a retrovirus that suppresses the immune system and is a leading cause of cancer in cats. Recommended for all kittens and any cat with outdoor access.

TYPICAL UK KITTEN VACCINE SCHEDULE

  • 8–9 weeks: First vaccination (cat flu, FIE, FeLV)
  • 11–12 weeks: Second vaccination
  • Annually: Boosters required — all included in every Snoots membership
